About Belair Prep School

The focus in Grades 1- 6 is a balance of academics, creative and physical activity. Students are taught the core subjects by class teachers, with specialist teachers offering Music, Art, Computer Studies, Dance and Drama, Library Skills, French, Spanish and Physical Education.

Our children develop problem-solving skills appropriate for each grade’s curriculum, culminating in concentrated preparation and study for the GSAT examinations in Grade 6. Belair’s GSAT scores are consistently above national test scores.

A qualified teacher takes care of the Resource Centre programme. Students with special needs or learning disabilities are catered to on a daily basis. Individualized educational programmes are planned based on the strengths and weaknesses of each student.

Talented and gifted students receive enrichment from each class setting. All teachers ensure that these students benefit from an accelerated programme where they are challenged to excel in all areas.

Learning outcomes are planned collaboratively between class teachers to ensure equity in the delivery of the program.

Learning is not limited to the self-contained classrooms and textbooks. All of our students are exposed to resource persons from the community who come in to share their experiences with them. Project work and research are encouraged and the students go on field trips to places of local and historical interest.

In addition to the academic work, our students are exposed to a wide range of activities. This balanced programme prepares them for the school system after completing six or seven years at the elementary level.
